“NEVER FORGET” 5 K

On May 9, 2015, the “NEVER FORGET” 5K will be held at the
Worship Center, 2384 New Holland Pike in Lancaster, Pennsylvania 17601.

This annual 5K run and the 1 mile walk has been created by America’s 911 Foundation to keep the awareness of what happened to so many people from the airplane attacks on September 11, 2001. Over 2,996 individuals died for no reason. As people were fleeing from the buildings, the First Responders were entering the buildings hoping to save lives. Unfortunately, many of the responders lost their lives when the buildings collapsed.

For those that are too young to remember these tragedies, this 5K run and 1 mile walk emphasizes the importance of the First Responders in our everyday lives. Please consider becoming a First Responder, or at least financially supportingyour local First Responders.

Each runner or walker will receive a peel off name tag of an individual that perished on 911 to wear as a representation of that person, so they will not be forgotten. The name tag will be placed on each runner or walker’s shirt over the heart area. Staging for receiving your packets or filling out your registration starts at 7:15 am to 8:46 am when the 5K begins.

The5K begins at 8:46am when Flight 11 hit the North Tower of the World’s Trade Center. Sirens will start the 5K run.
The Walk will start at 9:02 am when Flight 175 hit the South Tower of the World’s Trade Building. Sirens will start the walk.
Flight 77 crashed into the Pentagon at 9:37 am. A siren will sound.
Flight 93 crashed into the ground in Somerset Countyat 10:03. A siren will sound.

Please thank all the First Responders that will be there to encourage you on your 5K run/1 mile walk. After the run, for those that are interested, the America’s 911 Foundation trailer will be there to sell this year’s 911 foundation tee shirts, flags, etc. Local vendors will also be there to support the America’s 911 Foundation. The café at the Worship Center will be open. Please help us in making this 5K a tremendous success by encouraging others to participate.
